Latest Attraction in Whistler: Squamish Lilwat Cultural Centre
Recently opened ‘The Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre’ has been quite a hit with the tourists. A cooperative venture between the Squamish city and Lil’wat Nations led to creation of the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre which is located across from the Four Seasons and Fairmont in Whistler, British Columbia.
The Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre’ is designed in the forms of a Squamish Longhouse and Lil’wat Istken (earthen dwelling with fire pit) and is about 30,400 square foot in size. This complex has been created by the Squamish and Lil’wat people to share their living cultures with the world.
The Cultural Centre is a must-see attraction for people interested in BC aboriginal culture. It is the first of its kind in Canada, showcasing the two distinct cultures of our people: Squamish Nation and Lil’wat Nation. Meet our people in a spectacular building located on traditional territory, nestled in a pristine forest and mountain setting.
