Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics: BC cities

The majority of people around the world have been talking about the vibrant city of Vancouver, the host for Vancouver 2010 Winter Olymoics paying a little less attention to the other venue cities like Richmond, Whistler and Cypress Mountain. 

Many other BC cities neighboring Vancouver like Squamish, Pemberton, Surrey, Delta, New Westminster, Port Coquitlam, Burnaby and Port Moody etc have also been preparing for Vancouver 2010 Winter olympics in their own special way. Learn more about these towns below:

Richmond: The city of Richmond is located only 30 minutes from downtown Vancouver and is a thriving multi cultural community which has developed rapidly over the last few years and this growth will continue until Vancouver 2010.

Whistler Mountain Resort: This friendly ski- resort is located about 115 kms from Vancouver in the coastal mountains of BC. It has about 8000 acres of skiable terrain making it an excellent choic for Vancouver 2010 winter olympics.

Squamish: This lovely little town is often called ‘The outdoor recreation capital of Canada’ is known for sports like windsurfing, mountain biking and rock climbing.

Surrey: The city of Surrey is about 40 minutes from Vancouver and the second largest city in British Columbia.

Port Coquitlam: The city of the Coquitlam has more than more than 68 parks and trails to offer visitors.There are plenty of bike paths, sports fields, picnic areas, playgrounds etc here. 

Duncan: Duncan is popularly known as the city of totems and is located in the heart of Cowichan region. There are about 80 totem poles erected throughout the city which lend it a unique historic charm.

West Vancouver: If you want to enjoy sandy beaches, seaside walks, hiking trails, marinas and hiking trails then visit the waterfront community of West Vancouver which stretches about 89 kilometers.

Wine Industry Trends in British Columbia

Rotary Centre for The Arts, Kelowna

 Kelowna’s art scene is vibrant and colourful and some of the credit goes to Rotary Centre For the arts, Kelowna.

Patrons of RCA and the visitors will be happy to know that RCA has been nominated for the 2009 “Presenter of the Year” award  by BC Touring Council (BCTC).

The nomination recognizes the Rotary Centre for the
Arts as an outstanding performing arts facility.  We

My friends from across the world often ask me, “Why do you love BC?” There are so many reasons to be in love with British Columbia but here are my favourite few:

  • We love BC because its not only beautiful all year round but has something to offer in every season. While you can enjoy activities like Mountain Biking, Camping, Rafting, Canoeing, Hiking in Summers, Winters offer you skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing etc. It doesn’t matter which part of BC you are in, all these activities are within a short drive.
  • We welcome visitors from all over the world with open arms. 
  • British Columbia is home to some lovable personalities like Ryan Reynolds, Debbie Brill, Jed Rees, Hayden Christensen, Michael Bubli, Steve Nash, David Suzuki etc. 
  • We have a wide variety of Cultures here and we encourage diverse population.
  • We are home to Winter Olympics in 2010. Are you ready for Vancouver 2010. 
  • We also love BC because it’s the home to the Vancouver Canucks.
  • Driving on BC roads and highways is fun because each road has a secret of its own and most highways are breathtakingly beautiful.
  • We have over five millions hectares of parkland and are one of the most mountainous region.
  • The local cuisine of British Columbia is made from fresh produce and therefore is very flavourful. We’ve embraced many international cuisines in our daily food too.
  • BC offers amazing diversity, from the busy city life in Vancouver to smaller friendly towns such as Revelstoke/Sicamous and everything in between like Kelowna/Kamloops/Prince George.
