Ultimate Winter Adventure Spot - Big White

Do you know what is the temperature in Kelowna nowadays? Well, the current temperature is -13 degrees and the snow base at Big White ( British Columbia’s premier ski resort) is about 94 cm. Of course, Big White is your ultimate winter adventure spot this weekend.

According to Big White authorities:

You may be coming to Big White simply for the skiing and snowboarding, but you’ll soon discover you can have a true Canadian adventure. You can explore snow covered hills by snowmobile, explore backcountry on cross country skis and snowshoes, sleigh ride through the wilderness or mush behind a husky. As BC’s premier family destination, we have a great range of events and activities for the entire family including night skiing, snow tubing, ice skating, mini z’s, fireworks and carnivals just to name a few…

If you’re after relaxation, soak up the sunset in a steaming hot tub, sit by the fire sipping hot chocolate, tantalize your senses at one of the luxurious day spas or stroll through our enticing retail outlets.

I don’t disagree with them. I had a great time at Big White last weekend. There are a lot of good deals being offered for the holiday season at Big White like:  Buy your single-day lift vouchers from any of the selected sport shops and receive FREE night skiing (when available) as a bonus on your day ticket. Better yet, buy a 5-Day Value Card, which entitles you to five days of skiing, and save over $30 in addition to the FREE night skiing. No blackout dates!

Now if you haven’t bought anything for your loved ones for Christmas yet, consider taking them to Big White. Believe me, you won’t regret it.

Top 5 ski resorts in British Columbia

Winter is fast approaching and ski lovers are gearing up for another great season of thrill and adventure. I am often asked by friends about my favourite ski resort and believe me, its very tough to answer that question. In my opinion, British Columbia is home to some of the best ski resorts in Canada. If you don’t agree with me, check out the list below:

1. Whistler: This world famous ski resort is not only for serious skiers but also for party animals as it has a great night life. It is a little unfortunate that kids under 18 are not allowed in the majority of lodges without accompanying adults but the good news is that Whistler is only about 2 hours away from Vancouver. So, get ready to plan your next winter vacation.

2. Big White: I love this beautiful little ski resort because it is very family oriented. Most of the lodges have ski in/ ski out access and restaurants/clubs/grocery stores are within walking distance.

3. Silverstar: If you are into the cross country skiing  scene then you cannot miss Silverstar which is about an hour and a half from Kelowna and 35-40 minutes from Vernon. Silverstar has great chalets for small families so rent a chalet at Silverstar and make your ski vacation truly memorable.

4. Sun Peaks: If you want to ski in style and then relax in a luxurious townhome then Sun Peaks is your optimum choice. Sun Peaks has some newly built townhome complexes which are well furnished and are within walking distance of ski slopes like Woodhaven, Crystal Forest, Forest Trails, Powder Ridge etc.

5. Fernie: Although there isn’t much to do in the town of Fernie, Fernie ski resort has something to offer to skiers of all skill levels.  The Fernie Ski resort is comprised of 30% beginner slopes, 40% intermediate and 30% designated as advanced.

Now, if you are planning to drive down to one of these ski resorts and haven’t invested in a ski rack yet, then buy now to take advantage of pre-season sale.
