Winter is fast approaching and ski lovers are gearing up for another great season of thrill and adventure. I am often asked by friends about my favourite ski resort and believe me, its very tough to answer that question. In my opinion, British Columbia is home to some of the best ski resorts in Canada. If you don’t agree with me, check out the list below:

1. Whistler: This world famous ski resort is not only for serious skiers but also for party animals as it has a great night life. It is a little unfortunate that kids under 18 are not allowed in the majority of lodges without accompanying adults but the good news is that Whistler is only about 2 hours away from Vancouver. So, get ready to plan your next winter vacation.

2. Big White: I love this beautiful little ski resort because it is very family oriented. Most of the lodges have ski in/ ski out access and restaurants/clubs/grocery stores are within walking distance.

3. Silverstar: If you are into the cross country skiing  scene then you cannot miss Silverstar which is about an hour and a half from Kelowna and 35-40 minutes from Vernon. Silverstar has great chalets for small families so rent a chalet at Silverstar and make your ski vacation truly memorable.

4. Sun Peaks: If you want to ski in style and then relax in a luxurious townhome then Sun Peaks is your optimum choice. Sun Peaks has some newly built townhome complexes which are well furnished and are within walking distance of ski slopes like Woodhaven, Crystal Forest, Forest Trails, Powder Ridge etc.

5. Fernie: Although there isn’t much to do in the town of Fernie, Fernie ski resort has something to offer to skiers of all skill levels.  The Fernie Ski resort is comprised of 30% beginner slopes, 40% intermediate and 30% designated as advanced.

Now, if you are planning to drive down to one of these ski resorts and haven’t invested in a ski rack yet, then buy now to take advantage of pre-season sale.

Latest Attraction in Whistler: Squamish Lilwat Cultural Centre

Recently opened ‘The Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre’ has been quite a hit with the tourists. A  cooperative venture between the Squamish city and Lil’wat Nations led to creation of  the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre which is located across from the Four Seasons and Fairmont in Whistler, British Columbia

The Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre’ is designed in the forms of a Squamish Longhouse and Lil’wat Istken (earthen dwelling with fire pit) and is about 30,400 square foot in size. This complex has been created by the Squamish and Lil’wat people to share their living cultures with the world.

The Cultural Centre is a must-see attraction for people interested in BC aboriginal culture. It is the first of its kind in Canada, showcasing the two distinct cultures of our people: Squamish Nation and Lil’wat Nation. Meet our people in a spectacular building located on traditional territory, nestled in a pristine forest and mountain setting.
